The Duluth Grill

Performed at the Art Happening Open Mic in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, September 8, 2017.
In memory of Mady Frellick April 1, 2000-June 16, 2023
Mady was a regular at the Art Happening Open Mic since it started in 2014. She told us she had her performing debut at the Open Mic when she was 14 years old. It was an honour to watch her grow in her confidence and singing over those years. Tony Lantz took this video and shared it with me after she died. I'm grateful to have this memory of her beautiful voice and presence adorning an original song of mine.
The Duluth Grill was written as I was traveling through Hibbing and Duluth, Minnesota, Bob Dylan's childhood hometowns. It is a response to Dylan's recording of Girl from the North Country.
